will find everything what you are searching for. Come to visit the most
beautiful place in the Netherlands, namely National Park De Weerribben! You
can take a walk, go by bikeor by boat there! Or go for a sight-seeing walk
through the formerly Zuiderzee-towns Vollenhove and Blokzijl and visit the

General information
The municipality of Steenwijkerland has a rich history. Not only there are a
lot of nice sight-seeing spots, but also many musea, rural estates,
Havezaten (estates of the nobility) and churches which are all more than
worth it. At several places it ispossible to book a guided tour through the

to know the several cultural facilities better.

Steenwijkerland offers a wide range of touristic accommodations. There are
many possibilities to stay for more than one day. From luxurious hotels to
bed & breakfast, from a small and simple campingsite to larger ones
equipped with all luxuriousfacilities. To explore the countryside over land
or over water it is possible to rent a boat or bike at the many touristic
enterprises. Steering an electrically driven punt in Giethoorn or exploring
the Weerribben in a canoe certainly is quite anextraordinary experience!
Going out!
To have a nice evening and/or night out you can visit the many restaurants,
café and bars. Steenwijkerland has a wide range of catering industry:
star-restaurants in Giethoorn and Blokzijl, cosy café and pubs,
pancake-restaurants and sometimes evenvery luxurious cafetarias.
Performances, shows and films will be shown in the cinema in Steenwijk and
at the theater De Meenthe, also in Steenwijk.
Events
During the summer season many events are being organised. There are many
different events. From markets to festive fairs, such as the Lambertusmarkt
at Oldemarkt, the Elfduizendmarkt and Zendemarkt at Steenwijk, but also the
Flowercorso's at St.Jansklooster and Vollenhove, and of course the
Gondelvaarten at Giethoorn, Dwarsgracht and Belt-Schutsloot are attractive
events, as well as for inhabitants as for tourists.
